Eternal Winter 6 Hr Run continues to be a big hit. Last year we have 58 people sign up but due to conditions only 39 showed up. This year the weather helped and 54 of the 65 registered runners showed on race day. The race has become popular enough that a pavilion might need to be reserved next year.
Of those runners, 13 ran a 50K or further. Topping the high end of the scale, Dave Phipps turned in 40.28 miles, Aaron Ellison ran 37.26, James Wilson 35.5 and Margaret Smith 25.
Cotton running gloves with the run logo were purchased by Mosi Smith, an anonymous donor named Tom DeKornfeld, and me (John Hayward) for $440 to give to the runners in exchange for their $20 check written to FoodLink Maryland. With only a few exceptions, runners donated their $20 checks in exchange for a pair of running gloves. This ended up yielding $1,150 in cash for FoodLink Maryland.
Additionally, each runner was required to bring non-perishable food to give to FoodLink Maryland. The donated food totaled several hundred pounds of food.
