UPDATE: JOHN WALL ONE MILE TRACK RACE, WEEKEND TRAINING SESSIONS CANCELED

Due to the extreme heat forecast for July 20, 2019, the Annapolis Striders has canceled the John Wall One Mile Track Race, as well as the weekend training sessions for the Moore’s Marines Marathon Training and A10 Training Programs.

The race cancellation will not affect the standings for those currently in the Championship Series as this race will be removed from consideration.

Anyone participating in one of the weekend training programs should contact either the Moore’s Marines or A10 Training coaches for guidance for safe training options.

Please join us at the next Championship Series race, the Dog Days 8K on August 4th.

Special Notification – 2019 Dawson’s Fathers Day 10K Cancellation

Fellow runners:

I am sure you are disappointed with the news that the Father’s Day 10k race has been cancelled.  It was not an easy decision to make and we are just as disappointed.  We were informed that a student sporting event was being held at Severna Park High School the same weekend and began searching for a new venue.  As I am sure you are aware, there are not many places that can safely host a race of 400+ runners, volunteers and spectators.  We found two possibilities; however, after further investigation, we felt that neither location would be safe for you, all our  volunteers, spectators or local community.   So we made the hard decision in the interest of what was best.

For those of you participating in the Championship Series, the scoring will be adjusted to reflect the cancellation of this race.  For those of you individual participants that registered through Active.com, you will be receiving a refund. (We are working on that process currently).

We thank each of you for your interest in participating and will plan to hold the race again next year.   Please look for our other races on our website, and we look forward to seeing you there!

Should you have any questions, please email myself or our VP of Races, Irene.

Thank you for your time and understanding.

2019 Annapolis Ten Mile Run entry is OPEN!

Registration is now open for summer’s best race– the 44th annual Annapolis Ten Mile Run on Sunday, August 25th! The area’s oldest running race features a scenic course running through downtown Annapolis & surrounding neighborhoods, multiple water stops manned by awesome volunteers from local organizations, fantastic race management by the all-volunteer & non-profit Annapolis Striders running club, individual and team performance awards, and a post-race party featuring live music, food, and adult beverages. Finishers receive a sharp-looking black & blue half-zip pullover top— and we’ve now added a finisher’s medal as well!

So visit https://www.active.com/annapolis-md/running/annapolis-10-mile-run-2019 to sign up now and take advantage of our lowest entry fee of the year! Fees go up on April 15th. And see our 2019 Race Information page for complete race details. We can’t wait to see you on August 25th!

2019 RRCA Ten Mile Club Challenge

Calling all Annapolis Striders members! We want YOU to run on our team at the 2019 RRCA Ten Mile Club Challenge, a friendly competition between all of Maryland & DC’s RRCA-affiliated running clubs taking place on Sunday 24 February 2019 at Howard Community College in Columbia, Maryland.

While rising costs mean that the Annapolis Striders can no longer afford to cover our members’ Club Challenge entry fees, we think $14.88 ($13 + $1.88 processing) is still a terrific deal for a well-organized, professionally-managed 10 miler, and we hope you’ll still sign up!

Visit https://register.chronotrack.com/r/46060 to register (be sure to select “Annapolis Striders” as your club!), and see http://www.striders.net/rrca-club-challengefor complete race info. But make sure you sign up by Saturday 2/16, because registration closes for good after that!

The Club Challenge is also the first event in the 2019 RRCA Maryland Championship Series, a year-long series of eleven races hosted by different clubs throughout the state. You only need to run four to be eligible for awards! Visit https://maryland-rrca.org/md-grand-prix-series/ for the full list of 2019 races & dates.
