The Annapolis Striders have lost a legend: The great Evan Thomas passed away February 2nd at age 82. Few have contributed as much to the running community as Evan did, serving as Striders president, Annapolis Ten Mile Run race director, columnist for The Capital Gazette, RRCA Maryland state representative, and founder of our Annapolis Striders 5K Beginning Runners Program, among a hundred other roles. “Regular exercise has saved my life,” Evan wrote in his farewell Capital column in 2018. “Mostly, however, it has brought a joy I have tried to share with others.” We’d say he succeeded beyond measure.

A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, February 17, 2024 from 2-4 pm at Barranco Severna Park Funeral Home & Cremation Care, PA. located at 495 Ritchie Highway, Severna Park, MD 21146.

Obituary may be found here. Barranco funeral home

that’s it.

Represent the Annapolis Striders in the RRCA Club Challenge! This is a race EXCLUSIVE to RRCA running clubs (such as the Annapolis Striders) in Maryland and Washington, D.C., and NOT open to the general public. The fastest runners from our club in each event contribute to scoring. Events include overall men/women/co-ed, Under 40 men/women, Masters men/women, Grand Masters men/women, as well as overall individual awards.

If you are a current member of the Annapolis Striders, use the link below with the team code 2024AS000 which pre-populates as you register. Registration is open January 1st until February 15th to club members ONLY. You must be able to run at least a 13mpm pace on a hilly course. The course time gun time limit is 2 hours 10 minutes. The Annapolis Striders do not supplement the $40 cost of the initial race entry, but those who register and show up on race day will be reimbursed $20 CASH. Additionally, there are a limited number of Annapolis Striders team shirts left from last year. If you did not receive one last year, and we have your size still, you will also get a team shirt.

Arrive early (6:45am – 7:40am) for bib pick up and a team photo (7:30am). This is our chance to show Maryland and the District which team is the fastest. For any questions email our team captain:
