Congratulations to our club team at the RRCA 10 Mile Club Challenge!
Thirty-eight Annapolis Striders traveled to Howard Community College in Columbia, Maryland on
Sunday, February 26th, 2023 to represent our club at the RRCA 10 Mile Club Challenge, an annual team competition between all of Maryland & DC’s
RRCA-affiliated running clubs.
As of press time, final results had still not been published, so we’re not entirely certain how our club fared, although we believe Owen Infante (56:52) and Nicole Dawson (1:07:28) were our top individual finishers. High-resolution race photos courtesy of club photographers Denise Hyde & Karsten Brown have been published, though, and they can be viewed HERE.
Thank you to all who ran for us this year, and special thanks to team captain Casey Rayburg for coordinating everything! The Club Challenge takes place each year on the fourth Sunday in February, so if you can run ten miles, come be a part of next year’s Annapolis Striders team on 2/25/2024.
The RRCA Club Challenge was also the first race in the 2023 Maryland RRCA Grand Prix Series. The series includes a wide variety of events all over the state, from one mile to a full marathon, and it includes the Annapolis Striders’ own Dog Days 8K Cross-Country Run on 8/6/2023. One only needs to run four of the races to become eligible for series awards. Although the full 2023 schedule has not been finalized yet, more details about the series can be found HERE .

Race Day, Sunday, March 26, 7:30am-1:30pm at Severna Park High School
60 Robinson Rd, Severna Park, MD 21146
The simple act of walking from your kitchen for a meal or to your bedroom to rest, probably does not require a significant number of steps. You are easily able to navigate from room to room to address your basic needs without concern of how far you will have to walk.
For someone experiencing homelessness, simple tasks of getting something to eat, finding a place to use the restroom or a safe place to rest, can result in 1,000s of steps taken throughout the day. Having to take those steps in shoes that provide little to no support for your feet and not having the option to replace your well-worn shoes, provides both physical and mental burdens for our neighbors. Through our “Shoe some love for your neighbor” drive, we hope to provide our neighbors with quality shoes as we enter the warmer months.
We will be collecting running shoes/athletic shoes for the Annapolis Light House A Homeless Prevention Support Center:
- New or gently worn men’s and women’s athletic shoes/sneakers.
- All adult sneaker sizes, styles, and brands.
- No other types of shoes or clothing can be accepted.
- Please spray any gently used shoes with disinfectant prior
to donating and remember to donate with dignity!
- Please tie each pair of shoes together
