Be part of the Annapolis Striders A-10
public relations effort!
Help distribute flyers about the race in areas that will be
impacted on race morning!
Our plan is to head out at 6pm on Tuesday, August 19th from the parking lot of
Graul’s/Bella Italia at 607/609 Taylor Avenue in Annapolis to distribute flyers in neighborhoods across the Naval Academy Bridge. Pizza will be provided afterwards.
If that date does not work for certain people, a stack of fliers (with a designated route) can be delivered to people interested in helping but who are unable to help on Tuesday, August 19th.

Annapolis Striders Training/Education
Update from Bob Moseley,
VP of Training and Education
|
|
Current Training Programs:
We currently have 2 active training programs in progress: The A10 training group for which the last day is Sunday, August 17th, (coached by Dave Dold) and Moore’s Marines Marathon Training (coached by Bob Moseley). Both programs are well structured and help you get to the starting line ready to race. Still time to jump in; check out the Striders website for the exact training dates and additional information.
Coaching Call
: We are always looking for coach/mentors for our other training programs, such as the 5K, 10K, Jr. Striders and marathon groups. If you’d like to step into coaching and are interested, give me a shout. If you are experienced/RRCA-certified (or certified via another program, such as UESCA) or are interested in becoming certified, we can help pay for that training as well.
News you can use:
In past editions, I have spoken a lot about heart rate, zone 2 running, maximum aerobic fitness rate, speed work, etc. which are all important factors in our overall training programs. Another method that is often employed to gauge effort is called Rate of Perceived Exertion (RPE). RPE is specific to each individual, as your RPE compared to mine might be similar or very different. In any case, it’s another way to determine how hard to train and doesn’t require that you be connected to some sort of device to determine your overall effort. Here’s an article that explains the concept in more detail:
https://marathonhandbook.com/rate-of-perceived-exertion
See you on the trail (or somewhere else!).
