Sunday, August 24! Sign up now to secure your spot in the premier 10-mile road race in the mid-Atlantic region. For more information and registration.

If you don’t want to run 10 miles of hills in the August heat and humidity (fair!) email a10volunteers@annapolisstriders.org to help us host this storied race. We cannot do this without you!

THE A-10 NEEDS YOUR HELP!

We need a new Premium Captain & a new Water Captain!

We are looking for energetic & responsible people willing to take on the important roles of Water Captain and
Premium Captain for the
50th annual
Annapolis Ten Mile Run on
August 24th. If you’ve been thinking about stepping up to take on a greater volunteer role, this is your opportunity! But you won’t be handling things alone– former captains will be available to provide guidance, and you’ll have additional volunteers assigned to you to help out on race weekend.

The ever-important Water Captain role involves preparing, distributing, and picking up water stop supplies, and this will require a time commitment on both Saturday & Sunday. The Premium Captain oversees distribution of our finisher premiums in the finish area on race morning.

If you are interested in either of these volunteer duties or if you have any questions, please reach out to a10@annapolisstriders.org!
We would love to get these volunteer roles filled as soon as possible. Thank you for helping our club’s signature event live up to its longtime billing as
Maryland’s premier 10 mile road race

Runners, the Metric Marathon registration opened

Keep an eye on this section for announcements about training programs!

Annapolis Striders Training/Education

Update from Bob Moseley,

VP of Training and Education

Current Training Programs:
We currently have 2 active training programs in progress:  The A10 training group (coached by Dave Dold) and Moore’s Marines Marathon Training (coached by Bob Moseley). Both programs are well structured and get help you get to the starting line ready to race. Still time to jump in; check out the Striders website for the exact training dates and additional information.

Coaching Call
: We are always looking for coach/mentors for our other training programs, such as the 5K, 10K, Jr. Striders and marathon groups. If you’d like to step into coaching and are interested, give me a shout. If you are experienced/RRCA-certified (or certified via another program, such as UESCA) or are interested in becoming certified, we can help pay for that training as well.

News you can use:
Breaking news: it’s hot. When the heat and humidity rises to current levels, pretty much every run can turn into some version of a death slog. Running before/after the peak sun, staying hydrated and slowing the pace are some of the ways that we can deal with the conditions and still get our run completed. As with anything else these days, there is always some hack that can be implemented to deal with whatever the issue of the moment is; running is no different. Accordingly, for those looking for some different ideas on how to beat the heat, check out this article on palm cooling as one approach to keeping things cool:
https://www.marathonguide.com/coach/palm-cooling

See you on the trail (or somewhere else!).
