John Wall Memorial One Mile Track Run recap!
Cool and cloudy conditions made for good running at this year’s
John Wall Memorial One Mile Track Run
on June 28th! 156 runners of ages ranging from 1 to 78 took advantage, completing their four laps and change around the cushy Severna Park High School track across seven different heats. 16-year-old Reed Simm dominated the final heat to take the overall men’s win in 4:43, with third-place Scott Koehler nabbing the Masters prize in 4:53. On the women’s side, Claire Everhart cruised to a dominant victory in 5:29, followed by Masters champ Allison Sauntry in 5:51. Your race directors were happy to see runners & spectators offering copious cheers and applause throughout the event, particularly for the young graduates of our Junior Striders program! And members of the Wall family were on hand as always, this year including John’s grandson Dave Wall who brought an old banner from his days as the head of this very event.
Full results, as capably recorded by Nut Hall, can be found HERE and on his Maryland Timing site. A couple thousand race photos from volunteer photographer Jon Valentine, available free for personal use, are up on Jon’s Yogile site. The Wall Mile also marked the halfway point in our eight race 2025 Championship Series; visit HERE for the current standings, courtesy of Dan Mandeville. RDs Jim Falvey & Karsten Brown would like to express gratitude to all who volunteered this year, including Wanda Ascencio, Delia Edelmann, Denise Hyde, Tom & Mary Lou Lyden, Will Myers, Larry Puglisi, Jim Sandison, and Roberta Watson. If we missed anyone, we apologize. Can’t wait to do it again next summer!

THE A-10
NEEDS YOUR HELP!
We need a new Premium Captain
& a new Water Captain!
We are looking for energetic & responsible people willing to take on the important roles of
Water Captain
and
Premium Captain
for the
50th annual
Annapolis Ten Mile Run
on
August 24th
. If you’ve been thinking about stepping up to take on a greater volunteer role, this is your opportunity! But you won’t be handling things alone– former captains will be available to provide guidance, and you’ll have additional volunteers assigned to you to help out on race weekend.
The ever-important
Water Captain
role involves preparing, distributing, and picking up water stop supplies, and this will require a time commitment on both Saturday & Sunday. The
Premium Captain
oversees distribution of our finisher premiums in the finish area on race morning.
If you are interested in either of these volunteer duties or if you have any questions, please reach out to
a10@annapolisstriders.org
!
We would love to get these volunteer roles filled as soon as possible. Thank you for helping our club’s signature event live up to its longtime billing as
Maryland’s premier 10 mile road race
