Registration is now open for the Annapolis Strider’s WDF / RATW 5K scheduled for Saturday, July 14, 2018 at the West Annapolis Elementary School, 505 Melvin Avenue, Annapolis, MD 21401, with women starting at 7:45 am and men starting approximately 8:30 am.
It is Leg 6 of the Maryland RRCA Women’s Distance Festival Grand Prix Series now in its 29th year.
The first 200 applicants will be guaranteed a premium. The premium will be determined soon. New this year is a $20.00 Early Bird registration, which will close on June 3. Rates will then increase on June 4 to $25.00 – the Mail-ins must be post-marked no later than Thursday, July 5 and On-line will close on Wednesday, July 11. Race-Day registration will be $30.00.
Volunteers are also needed. Consider asking your significant other to volunteer. Contact Race Director Kathleen Hanson to volunteer!
A Workers’ run will be held on Saturday, June 9th at 8:00 am at SPHS for those who volunteer to work at the race.
Volunteers are still needed in all areas, but parking attendants, course monitors and people for set-up are especially needed.

Greenbury Point Nature Center 265 Bullard Boulevard Annapolis, MD 21402 The course is a fast and flat scenic 2.5-mile loop, primarily on packed dirt paths around Greenbury Point across the Severn River from the U.S. Naval Academy. For more information and registration Annapolis Striders members may use code ES6HR-STRIDERS to receive $10 off registration fee.
Annapolis Striders membership required to participate in these training programs. There is no fee for the training programs but you must register.
Spring Beginning Runners 5K Class
April 24th-July 14th, 2018
Whether you are new to running or trying to return to running, this is a program for you. This class is intended for all who are looking to “get off the couch with no running experience at all” and do
a 5K (3.1 miles) distance.
Annapolis Striders membership is required but the class is FREE!
Class starts Tuesday, April 24th, 2018 at 6:00 pm at Weems-Whelan Field/ Bates Middle School (1/4 mile oval) and the track (off of 935 Spa Road by the City of Annapolis Public Works Garage stop light).

SOAR for Veterans is an inaugural cycling fundraiser to take place on Saturday, June 2nd, 2018 at the Talbot Community Center in Easton, MD.
The event includes four rides – a ten mile family fun ride, 25 and 50 mile fitness rides and a 62.5 mile metric century. All rides are on Talbot County roads open to traffic, and are fully supported with four rest stops and on-road support.
The ride coincides with the Traveling Vietnam Veterans Wall, a 3/5 replica of the Vietnam Veterans Wall at the VFW grounds from May 31 – June 6. All riders have an opportunity to stop to visit the Traveling Vietnam Veterans Wall to pay respects.
All event proceeds support the Mid-Shore Recovering Veterans Group – a 501(c)(3) nonprofit committed to assisting Mid-Shore US veterans from all foreign conflicts who have served our country in any capacity, in any country, at any time. The organization offers wheelchair and handicap ramps, and engages veterans and their families to come together for hiking, biking, fishing and more.
Annapolis Running Shop, Charm City Run Annapolis, and Fleet Feet Annapolis all have activities observing Global Running Day. Here is some information about all three. If you plan carefully and keep your strength up, you can participate in all three:
At the Annapolis Running Shop, Lisa Consiglio Ryan of Whole Health Designs and RASA juice on Maryland Ave, wholehealthdesigns.com will be in the shop for Global Running Day to have samples of healthy juice cleanses after the regular Wednesday Night Run, starting about 7:45 pm.
Starting at 6:00pm on Wednesday, June 6th, Charm City Run will challenge you to use your legs to run (or walk) the Annapolis Towne Centre for 24 hours, 1 hour, or anything in-between to raise funds for Danny’s Fund, a nonprofit with a goal of directing contributions to purposes and causes to change the course of addiction in Anne Arundel County.
Wednesday, June 6th, 2018 at 6:00 pm at Quiet Waters Park in Annapolis.
Fleet Feet Annapolis, as well as other Fleet Feet stores nationwide, in partnership with Brooks and Nuun, will hold a super fun run 5K! This is a family friendly event and they celebrate and welcome runners of all abilities and levels. This is not a chip timed event, but they will have a finishers’ clock at the end. Come join the fun!
The Crofton Kiwanis 5K/10K Race will be held Saturday, June 9th, 2018 at 8:00 am at the Crofton Country Club in Crofton, MD.
For 29 years, this has been a great summer event. The 10K course goes around our community’s tree-lined parkway loop and residential side streets. It is mostly flat with a few challenging hills. This year, we’ve added a 5K, which runs only on the Crofton Parkway. It measures a bit longer than 5K–closer to 5.3K.
The MCVET 23rd Annual 5/10K Race will be held Sunday, June 10th, 2018 at 7:30 am at The War Memorial Plaza in Baltimore. The 23rd Annual Race will continue to be a beacon of hope to homeless veterans and other veterans in need. The event raises support and awareness for the program.
All proceeds benefit the Maryland Center for Veterans Education and Training, Inc. The mission of MCVET is to provide homeless veterans and other veterans in need with comprehensive services that will enable them to rejoin their communities as productive citizens.
The 2018 Maryland Race for the Family 5K, 4 mile and 1.5 mile fun walk event will be held Saturday, June 16th, 2018 at the Maryland Zoo in Baltimore.
The Tinina Q. Cade Foundation Inc. is a 501c3 tax exempt organization that was founded in 2005 by Drs Jason and Camille Hammond to support families struggling with infertility. Cade Foundation Inc. provides free education focused programs throughout the country to inform families about their family building options (giving particular focus to adoption, foster care and fertility treatment as methods to building a family)
The fun, timed, evening vineyard run: the Solstice Stomp 5K will be held on Saturday, June 16th at 6:30 pm! This event is set in beautiful Cascia Vineyards on Kent Island and features food (or bring your own basket!), live music, and stunning water views.
Kent Island Running Group is excited to organize the Solstice Stomp 5K to benefit Athletes United, a partnership of disabled and able-bodied student athletes at our local high school, and Kinera Foundation, the Eastern Shore regional hub that works with special needs children and their families. All participants will receive a unique wine glass and over-21 participants will also receive one pour of their choice of wine in their souvenir glass. Then it’s kickback time to the smooth summer sounds of the Chris Sacks Duo.
Annapolis Recreation and Parks will host the 12th annual Truxtun Youth Triathlon (TYT) on Sunday, June 17th, 2018.
The TYT is an annual event that challenges kids (ages 7-17) to complete a swim, bike and run event in a highly supportive and motivating community environment. This event has grown into an incredibly rewarding day with youth athletes and their families joining in a heart-warming and challenging experience.
The 5K/10K Race to Stop the Bleeding will be held Saturday, June 23rd, 2018 at 9:00 am at Quiet Waters Park in Annapolis.
Hemophilia Foundation of Maryland is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for people with bleeding disorders residing in the state of Maryland and surrounding counties. This mission is accomplished through patient outreach, advocacy, patient support and educational programming.
The Annual Run and Fun Walk to Stop the Bleeding is a chip-timed run/walk & is the largest annual fundraiser dedicated to raising needed funds to support our mission. Thanks to our generous sponsors, 100% of your entry fee will go directly to the Hemophilia community.
The Casey Cares/Orioles Annual 5K Run/Walk will take place on Saturday, July 14th, 2018 at Oriole Park at Camden Yards.

Register for the Casey Cares/Orioles Annual 5K Run/Walk and not only will you get to finish on the field, but you also will support a great cause in Casey Cares! Proceeds from the race will support programs for families with critically ill children.
The chip-timed 3.1-mile run/walk begins and ends at Oriole Park at Camden Yards and includes post-race refreshments. Top race finishers and top fundraiser will be announced in a pre-game ceremony.
