Our finish line crew of Al Stott, Bob Burash, and Whitey Gross retired at the 40th Anniversary Run held December 9th, 2018. This team brought 49 years of combined experience to timing our races. Thanks to Al, Bob, and Whitey for keeping order as runners came full speed to the finish chute while getting our bib tear-offs, and for all the other support they have provided through the years.
The Annapolis Striders are now looking for volunteers to step up and learn the timing process. This job is interesting and important, which is why Al, Bob, and Whitey kept at it for so long. Interesting, because it allows you to see the entire field of runners cross the finish line in every condition, from completely exhausted to totally unfazed, and everything in between. But also extremely important! If we don’t have a finish line and timing crew, we don’t have a race! So please give it a try. Interested members please contact Dan Symancyk. The first race for the new crew would be the Cherry Pit 10-Miler in May.

It is the 28th year of the marathon and 24th year of the half marathon. Come join us as we celebrate almost 30 years of running the marathon on this great rail to trail course.
Whether you are new to running or trying to return to running, this is a program for you. This class is intended for adults and families with children (age 10 and up) who are looking to “get off the couch-with no running experience at all” and do a 5K (3.1 miles) distance in a 10 weeks.
Participants should be capable of walking briskly for 20 minutes and should check with their health care professional prior to starting any fitness program.
This program targets long distance runners who wish to improve their race performance for spring distance events such as the RRCA 10 Mile Club Challenge (February 24th), B&A Marathon and Half-Marathon, and other spring marathons. This is a “fat-ass” style training program: participants are expected to provide their own hydration and nutrition on group runs, and will include long, recovery, interval, and tempo runs. The first long run will be January 5th leaving from Jones Station.
The 2019 Half Marathon Winter Training Program Registration Page is posted and ready to roll with coaches Michael Myers, Kelly Kelly, Delia Edelmann, Mark Hamilton, Amy Andrews, and Marjorie Fioravante. Two Meet the Coach events were created on the Half Marathon Facebook Page for an initial meet on Saturday 5 January from 1-4 PM at LuLuLemon eventat their new location in Annapolis Mall, and a second meet on Tuesday January 8 from 5-8 PM at Charm City Run event in Annapolis Town Center. The first group run will take place on Saturday January 12 at 7:30 AM, starting at the Severna Park High School Faculty Parking Lot along the west side of the school. As of now, about 100 runners are registered for the program that averaged 61 runners each week last year; with a high of 94 runners the first week and just 39 on the Saturday before the B&A Trail Half Marathon.
