Race Director to support the annual
“Lights on the Bay 5K”
which will be held on
Friday November 22, 2019.
This annual race through holiday lights is hosted in conjunction with the SPCA. This is a great cause with good energy. Anyone interested in learning more, please contact VP of Races, Irene Myers-Thompson
The Metric Marathon will be held Sunday,
October 6th, 8:00AM at Southern High School, 4400 Solomons Island Rd, Harwood, MD 20776
Join us for the 38th running of the Metric Marathon!
This is the 6th leg of the Championship Series.
The Metric Marathon is a 26K (16.3 mile) loop course on paved roads through gently rolling hills in the Harwood area of Anne Arundel County. Significant hills occur at miles 12 and 14.

The course is mostly in deep woods at Rosaryville State Park, though there is some running in meadows also. The trail is largely single track; not very technical. The Start (also the Finish) is at the Pavilion picnic area about three quarters of a mile from where the runners enter the single-track perimeter trail. Hot food after the race starting about 11:30. The race will end at 4:00 pm.
The course has two aid stations about 4 1/2 miles apart. There will be a bag drop at the first aid station. We will transport bags from the Start to the bag drop site when the race begins and return them to the pavilion after the race–or you can pick up your bag as you leave the park.

6:30-8:30pm-Thank you and shout out to Leslie Sparks for all her volunteer work at The Brass Tap – Annapolis. Leslie arrived early to set up, meet and greet fellow Annapolis Striders, take photos and post photos on Facebook. Despite the rainy weather, Steve Mitchell led a fun run prior to the social. Also, thank you to Gregory Hill and Barry Lowenthal for reserving our space and hosting the Annapolis Striders July social.

The St. Jude Walk/Run Baltimore will be held Saturday, September 21st, 2019 at Druid Hill Park in Baltimore.
The St. Jude Walk/Run is held during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month in September, to raise money for the kids of St. Jude, where families never receive a bill for anything. Let’s end childhood cancer. Together.
The EB Day on the B&A will be held Saturday, September 21st, 2019 on the B&A Trail.
Choose your own adventure! Run, walk, bike or a little bit of each.
Pick your start time, distance and pace. Plus, enjoy fuel stops at local businesses along the B&A.
This is not a timed event but this fully supported course would be great for runners training for a fall race or anyone looking for a fun, social event.
Registration includes coffee at The Big Bean (7:30 AM – 4PM), a scoop of ice cream at Brusters (Severna Park: 12 PM – 8 PM or Glen Burnie 11AM – 8 PM) and a lunch buffet at Severna Park Taphouse with a ticket for a Marathon Brew (11 AM – 3PM). There will also be water at these businesses along with 2 additional water stations on the Trail from 8 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. to refill your bottles (BYO).
100% of the proceeds from this event will be donated to EB Research Partnership (EBRP) to find a cure and treatment of Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB).
The Annapolis Run for the Light House (Half Marathon, 5K and Walk) will be held Sunday, September 22nd, 2019 at Quiet Waters Park in Annapolis, MD.
The mission of the Light House: Homeless Prevention Support Center is to help rebuild lives with compassion by providing shelter and services to prevent homelessness and empower people as they transition toward self-sufficiency.
The Marines Helping Heroes 5K Challenge will be held Sunday, September 22nd, 2019 in Hanover, MD.
This event consists of a 5K run with optional push-up and sit-up challenges. The Challenge is designed to replicate the US Marine Corps Physical Fitness Test.
Funds raised will benefit our local military, veterans, the Semper Fi Fund, and TreatNOW. These organizations assist all servicemen and veterans suffering from PTSD and traumatic brain injuries, which have been linked to the epidemic of 22 suicides per day among veterans.
The Together in Teal 5K Run, organized by the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition Central MD Chapter, will be held Sunday, September 22nd at the Westfield Annapolis Mall.
This is the 10th Annual Together in Teal Run/Walk to End Ovarian Cancer. We run outside on the ring road at Westfield Annapolis Mall.
We honor Survivors of ovarian cancer and remember those that have lost their lives to this disease. It is a fun, inspiring family day also. Non monetary Awards given for various age group runners. Refreshments, Entertainment, and great Raffle and Community Health Tent.
NOCC is a 501(c)(3) non profit. It’s mission is “To work tirelessly to prevent and cure ovarian cancer and improve the lives of Survivors.”
The Travis Manion Foundation 2019 9/11 Heroes Run will be
held Sunday, September 22, 2019 at 2pm at the Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium in Annapolis.
Hosted by Travis Manion Foundation (TMF), the Annapolis 9/11 Heroes Run includes a 5K and 1M Family Fun Run along with a 5K GORUCK division that unites the community in remembering the sacrifices of the heroes of the September 11th attacks and in the wars since; veteran, first responder, military and civilian. Proceeds support TMF programs that empower veterans and families of the fallen to develop character in future generations and create thriving communities.
The David Herlocker Bachman Valley Half Marathon and 2 Person Relay will be held on Sunday, September 29th, 2019 in the heart of Carroll County farmland.

The Christalis Superhero 5K Run/Walk will be held Sunday, September 29th, 2019 in Takoma Park, MD.
The Christalis Superhero 5k Run/Walk is a fundraising event focused on benefiting poor and orphaned children in Uganda.
The Knight Foundation Race 4 Recovery 5K will be held Sunday, September 29th, 2019 at the Rockville Town Square in Rockville, MD.
The Race 4 Recovery 5K is an annual run/walk event that is based on providing immediate action to those threatened from addiction and overdose. This run/walk is to promote awareness, break down stigmas associated with addition, honor those that have been lost, and support those who currently are in the fight. The event will be held at Rockville Town Square. There will be music, food, entertainment, great prizes and FREE giveaways
The 20th anniversary ofZack’s Run- The Race Against Childhood Cancer, organized by The Hebda Foundation, will be held Sunday, October 6th, 2019 on the campus of the University of Maryland in College Park.
Enjoy a fun route through the campus for the 5K race or take part in the 1-mile fun run and support The Hebda Foundation in providing funds for cancer research at the Johns Hopkins Kimmel Cancer Center and supporting Camp Sunrise.
“Since 1986, Camp Sunrise has provided children affected by cancer with a normal camping experience among their peers who have also experienced cancer treatment. By combining an exciting camp experience with professional medical support, Camp Sunrise creates limitless opportunities for pediatric oncology patients to be normal kids again for a week.” (Johns Hopkins Kimmel Cancer Center)
Anthony’s Run 2019 will be held Sunday, October 6th, 2019 beginning at Kent Island High School.
Anthony’s Run 2019, features a Competitive Run, Run/Walk and Community/Family/Student-Walk along the Cross Island Trail beginning at Kent Island High School (KIHS) and ending at Red Eye’s Dock Bar; with announcements, a presentation and an after party to follow.
Anthony’s Walk is being hosted by Not My Child QAC- A newly created fund through Chesapeake Charities. The fund was created in memory of Anthony Reno Jr, who lost his life on May 21, 2017 to the opioid and heroin epidemic.
Not My Child QAC’ s mission is to support opioid awareness and prevention activities in Queen Anne’s County, provide assistance to individuals who are recovering from addiction, and assist families who have lost a loved one as a result of an opioid overdose.
The Athletes Serving Athletes (ASA) RunFest will be held Saturday, October 12th, 2019 at 9:00 am in Hunt Valley, MD.
This is a 5K, 1 Mile and Kids’ Fun Run.
Athletes Serving Athletes is a non profit based in the Baltimore community and dedicated to empowering athletes living with disabilities to cross the finish line in mainstream running and triathlon events. We cross the finish line in over 100 events a year in Maryland and then ASA RunFest is our very own signature event and largest fundraiser of the year. Over 70 ASA Athletes crossing the finish line in specialized running joggers. The Fall Family Festival will follow the race with music, kid zone, food and fun! The proceeds from the race will go to ASA’s WingMan Program.
The 14th Annual Scarecrow Classic 5K and 1 Mile Walk will be held Sunday, October 13th, 2019 on the University of Maryland Baltimore County campus.
This event, hosted by the Brain Injury Association of Maryland (BIAMD), will rally survivors, families, friends, and supporters around the common goal of raising awareness about brain injury within the community and providing much needed funding to support the programs and initiatives of BIAMD. For more than a three decades, BIAMD has been able to provide help, hope, and healing to Maryland’s Brain Injury community. With the generous assistance of our supporters and volunteers, The Maryland Brain Injury Connection Center is able to provide resources, education, and assistance to Marylanders with a brain injury, their families, and the healthcare providers who serve them, all free of charge.
The Broadneck Elementary School PTO’s Buzzing for the Bees 5K
will be held Saturday, October 26th, 2019 at Broadneck Elementary School in Arnold, MD.
This is a 5K through the community of Bay Hills in Arnold MD. The race benefits Race for Education at Broadneck Elementary School. We will have timed bibs, t-shirts for early registers and finisher medals. We will also have awards to top Male and Female Finishers as well as age group medals.
The Two Rivers 3rd Annual Run for Wreaths will be held Sunday, November 10th, 2019 at 8:00 am in Odenton, MD.
The Annapolis Triathlon Club (ATC) is dedicated to supporting our fallen heroes and honoring them with a wreath at their gravesite during this holiday season. The goal is to bring more wreaths to the Crownsville Veteran’s Cemetery. There are over 20,000 grave sites in the cemetery and in 2018 through local support they were able to cover about 15,000 gravestones. This year we’re hoping to cover all the sites.
Come join us on Sunday, November 10th for a morning of fun and exercise. There will be 5K run with awards for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place overall. There will also be a 2 mile walk and Kids Fun Run.
