The Annapolis Striders are looking for a
Race Director to support the annual
“Lights on the Bay 5K”
which will be held on
Friday November 22, 2019.
This annual race through holiday lights is hosted in conjunction with the SPCA. This is a great cause with good energy. Anyone interested in learning more, please contact VP of Races, Irene Myers-Thompson
The Women’s Distance Festival & Run After The Women 5K will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2019.
The WDF is Leg 4 of the Maryland RRCA WDF Grand Prix Series.
All women of all abilities are welcome. (men are welcome as well!) The women will begin at 7:45 a.m. and the men will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Tucker Street next to West Annapolis Elementary School. It is a 2-loop scenic run through the West Annapolis neighborhood of Wardour.
Have you registered yet? There is still time. The $25 registration fee will end on Wednesday, July 10. It will then increase to $30 for race-day registration.
Packet Pick-up will be race-day morning in the West Annapolis Elementary School Cafeteria, located closest to Tucker Street.
We will also have some of last year’s umbrellas for sale at $5.00 each.
Volunteers are still needed!
Course monitors and water stop helpers are still needed!
Note: If any female Annapolis Strider member is participating in the MD RRCA WDF Grand Prix Series as an Annapois Strider and would like a shirt, Kathleen Hanson has a few shirts available. Please contact her.
The course is mostly in deep woods at Rosaryville State Park, though there is some running in meadows also. The trail is largely single track; not very technical. The Start (also the Finish) is at the Pavilion picnic area about three quarters of a mile from where the runners enter the single-track perimeter trail. Hot food after the race starting about 11:30. The race will end at 4:00 pm.
The course has two aid stations about 4 1/2 miles apart. There will be a bag drop at the first aid station. We will transport bags from the Start to the bag drop site when the race begins and return them to the pavilion after the race–or you can pick up your bag as you leave the park.
To volunteer or for more information, contact Co-Race Director,
Annapolis Striders membership is required to participate in these training programs. There is no fee for the training programs but you must register.
